Strategy deploys $950M to repurchase STRC, seeking a return to $100 par

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Strategy's $950M STRC buybacks are aimed at pushing the preferred security back toward its $100 par value so it can be reissued to fund further bitcoin purchases. The repurchases were financed largely by MSTR equity issuance and partly by bitcoin sales, linking corporate capital markets activity to near-term BTC flow. The key risk is whether STRC can remain near par once buybacks slow or stop.

Strategy has stepped up repurchases of its perpetual preferred stock, STRC, in an effort to lift the price back toward its $100 par value and regain flexibility to fund additional bitcoin buying, Huoxing Finance reported. From July 20 through September 13, the company bought back 9.96 million STRC shares for about $950 million, representing roughly 18% of trading volume over the period. About $765 million of the buybacks was funded by proceeds from sales of MSTR common stock, with another $161 million coming from bitcoin disposals. STRC had dropped to around $70 before recovering, recently reaching as high as $99. Analysts say Strategy can more effectively reissue the security and use the proceeds for bitcoin purchases only if STRC trades at or above its $100 par value. It remains unclear whether STRC will stay near par once Strategy scales back or stops the buybacks.
