Crypto sectors rally broadly as DeFi jumps 12.68% and Bitcoin nears $70,000

Odaily Planet Daily reported that on Aug. 20, SoSoValue data showed a broad upswing across crypto market sectors, with most posting 24-hour gains of 2% to 12%. Policy headlines also supported sentiment. At a White House crypto event, Donald Trump urged Congress to move forward with the CLARITY Act. DeFi led the market, rising 12.68% over 24 hours. Meteora (MET) surged 23.64%. HYPE advanced 18.45% after Trump said work is underway to introduce Hyperliquid to the U.S. market in a "fully compliant and legal" manner. Major assets climbed sharply. Bitcoin (BTC) gained 8.21% and broke above $69,000, while Ethereum (ETH) jumped 18.38% to reclaim $2,200. SoSoValue's themed indices also strengthened: MAG7.ssi rose 9.12%, DEFI.ssi increased 13.51%, and MEME.ssi added 8.11%. Elsewhere, PayFi rose 10.45% over 24 hours with XRP up 11.50%. Layer2 gained 7.65%, led by Arbitrum (ARB) at 16.12%. The Meme sector advanced 7.42%, with OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP) up 27.42%. Layer1 climbed 6.66% as Solana (SOL) rose 11.32%. CeFi increased 3.97%, paced by Cronos (CRO) at 8.42%. Sector indices tracking historical market performance also moved higher, with ssiDeFi up 13.84%, ssiLayer1 up 13.09%, and ssiPayFi up 10.82%.
