SEC Unveils Proposed "Regulation Crypto Assets" in Bid to Draw Issuers and Capital Back to the U.S.

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The SEC's proposed Regulation Crypto Assets introduces issuance pathways, disclosure obligations, and safe-harbor conditions aimed at improving regulatory clarity and potentially drawing crypto issuers and capital back to the U.S. The initiative aligns with Congressional momentum around the CLARITY Act and reflects input from both industry and critics. While not yet effective, the proposal can shift near-term risk perception for U.S.-linked crypto markets.

According to ME News, on Aug. 18 (UTC+8) U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins introduced a draft framework dubbed "Regulation Crypto Assets." The proposal outlines pathways for crypto asset issuance, sets disclosure obligations, and establishes safe-harbor conditions. Atkins said properly tailored exemptions could encourage crypto issuers and investment to return to the U.S. while maintaining core investor protections, and would align with Congress's push to advance the CLARITY Act. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce said the draft reflects public feedback and staff input, with perspectives from both supporters and critics shaping the final design. Commissioner Mark Uyeda added that fixed thresholds and disclosure requirements would give issuers greater regulatory clarity. The proposal has not yet taken effect. (Source: ODAILY)
