SEC Floats New "Regulation Crypto Assets" Proposal, Outlines Exemptions for Smaller Offerings

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The SEC's proposed Regulation Crypto Assets would create a clearer U.S. fundraising framework, including exemptions for smaller issuances, a conditional safe harbor after key management roles end, and partial preemption of state registration requirements. If advanced, it could reduce regulatory friction and compliance uncertainty for token issuance and post-issuance trading dynamics, supporting near-term risk appetite across major crypto assets while the market prices the 60-day comment process.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has formally proposed "Regulation Crypto Assets," a plan to create a dedicated framework for cryptocurrency fundraising in the United States, according to an X post by Fox Business's crypto journalist cited by Odaily Planet Daily. Under the proposal, certain offerings could move forward without SEC registration if total issuances stay within specified thresholds: no more than $5 million in aggregate over four years, or up to $75 million per year. The SEC is also proposing a conditional safe harbor that would apply to crypto assets after the issuer's key management roles have ended, and it would exempt qualifying offerings from certain state-level securities registration requirements. The proposal has entered a 60-day public comment period.
