SEC Again Pushes Back Tokenized-Asset Innovation Exemption
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The SEC's renewed delay of a tokenized-asset innovation exemption signals ongoing regulatory friction and slower progress toward a U.S. sandbox for tokenized securities. The central dispute—whether third parties could issue stock tokens without issuer consent—raises legal and market-structure uncertainty, potentially discouraging near-term institutional participation and product launches. While the proposal remains framed as limited to tokenized representations of existing equities, the delay keeps compliance risk elevated across crypto markets.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to postpone, again, the rollout of its proposed innovation exemption for tokenized assets after concerns voiced by Wall Street and the White House, CoinDesk reported. The program was designed to give U.S. crypto firms a 12- to 36-month regulatory sandbox to issue and trade tokenized securities.
At the center of the debate is whether the exemption's terms could allow third parties to issue stock tokens without the underlying company's consent. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce defended the proposal on X, saying the framework is narrowly tailored to enable trading in digital representations of existing equity securities, not synthetic products.
