Crypto wallet emptied of $25M in 15 minutes, likely due to private key leak; same victim address lost $24M in 2023
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
ScamSniffer flagged a ~$25M rapid drain of two wallets, likely from private-key compromise, with assets consolidated and partially converted into DAI and ETH (~3,000 ETH retained). The victim address had a similar ~$24M loss in 2023 tied to a phishing allowance signature. While not protocol-specific, repeated high-value wallet losses can weigh on near-term sentiment and reinforce operational-risk premia across DeFi and ETH-denominated holdings.

Aug. 13 — ScamSniffer monitoring flagged a suspected private key compromise that wiped out two wallets belonging to the same crypto holder in roughly 15 minutes, with losses estimated at about $25 million, according to Huo Xing Finance.
On-chain data show both victim addresses moving all holdings — including DAI, WBTC, aUSDC, LDO, sUSDe and native ETH — to a newly created address. Within an hour, the stolen assets were consolidated into DAI and ETH: 20 million DAI was sent onward to another address, while about 3,000 ETH remained in the aggregation address.
The pattern points to private key exposure rather than a typical phishing approval/authorization scam. The victim address has been hit before: in September 2023, it lost 4,851 rETH and 9,579 stETH (around $24 million) after signing a phishing "increaseAllowance" transaction. The attacker later returned roughly 90% of the funds from that incident.
