Ethereum Exchange Reserves Plunge 18% as 1.4M ETH Withdrawn Amid 27% Price Rally

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Santiment data show 1.4M ETH withdrawn from centralized exchanges since June 3, cutting exchange reserves ~18% to 6.28M while ETH rallied ~27% to $2,528. The decline in liquid exchange supply can reduce near-term sell-side availability if spot demand persists, reinforcing a "hold/stake" posture. The divergence versus slightly rising BTC exchange balances highlights Ethereum-specific migration toward self-custody and staking (now >35% of supply).

Between June 3 and Aug. 27, 2026, investors moved approximately 1.4 million ETH off centralized exchanges, reducing reserves by 18%, according to analytics firm Santiment. This drawdown occurred as Ether rallied 27% from Aug. 16, trading near $2,528. Santiment noted that while Bitcoin exchange balances rose 0.25% over the same 12-week period, Ethereum holders increasingly prioritized self-custody and staking. Exchange balances fell from 7.69 million to 6.28 million ETH, with staking participation now exceeding 35% of the circulating supply. Since Aug. 19, an additional 275,000 ETH in net outflows has been recorded, indicating a reluctance to sell at current price levels. Meanwhile, Ethereum core developers are scheduled to review Layer 1 gas-fee parameters in upcoming governance sessions to optimize network performance.
