Ravencoin encountered a critical consensus vulnerability on Aug. 7, 2026 at 15:44 UTC, beginning at block height 4,487,776. Vulnerable nodes accepted invalid blocks, and multiple parties subsequently continued producing further invalid blocks.
Major mining pools 2Miners and RavenMiner, which together control most of the network's hash rate, said they will mine an alternative chain that excludes the vulnerable fork starting from block 4,487,776. The move could force a deep chain reorganization of roughly three days.
The project's guidance urges exchanges to immediately halt RVN deposits and withdrawals and to treat all transactions after block 4,487,775 as high risk. Some reverted transactions may return to the mempool, but there is no guarantee they will be confirmed again.
