Orionx halts withdrawals, begins wind-down after audit flags $7m moved beyond its control
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Orionx's halted withdrawals and wind-down after a forensic audit alleged $7M+ in asset movements outside company control adds counterparty and custody risk to the crypto ecosystem. Regulatory scrutiny is amplified by Chile's CMF stating the exchange continued operating after its Fintec authorization was rejected. The prospect of incomplete customer recoveries for 100,000+ users can weigh on regional on-ramp confidence and broader risk appetite toward centralized venues.

Chilean crypto exchange Orionx has suspended withdrawals and started winding down operations after a forensic audit found more than $7 million had been transferred to wallets outside the firm's control.
The company has filed a criminal complaint naming founders Joaquín Díaz and Roberto Zibert. Orionx alleges customer assets were used for external trading activity between 2018 and 2021.
Chile's financial markets regulator, the CMF, said Orionx continued operating even after its Fintec authorization was rejected in July. The exchange has more than 100,000 users, with no assurance they will receive a full recovery of funds.
