OCC Chief Urges Digital Asset Firms to Seek U.S. National Bank Charters

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The OCC's push to revive de novo bank chartering and explicitly include legally permitted digital-asset activities signals a more open federal pathway for crypto-native firms to become national banks. This could reduce regulatory uncertainty, broaden access to payment rails and deposits, and improve institutional adoption conditions. Near term, the headline supports risk sentiment across major crypto assets, with BTC as the primary barometer.

According to ME News, on Aug. 12 (UTC+8), the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) said it will keep prioritizing efforts to revive the de novo bank chartering framework to support the formation of new banks. OCC Comptroller Jonathan V. Gould said organizations engaged in legally permissible activities—including those involving digital assets and other emerging technologies—should have a route to become national banks in the United States. "The United States and the OCC are once again opening our doors to welcome all who wish to do business." (Source: Foresight News)
