OCC grants conditional approval for Trump-linked World Liberty Financial trust charter
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The OCC's conditional approval of World Liberty Financial's trust charter would allow the Trump-linked entity to issue USD stablecoins and custody digital assets, a meaningful regulatory milestone that could expand institutional-facing crypto infrastructure. However, the accompanying political backlash—including proposed legislation targeting presidential influence in bank licensing—adds headline and compliance uncertainty, potentially increasing policy-driven volatility around the project's ecosystem.

ChainThink said that on Aug. 18, citing Cointelegraph, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) issued conditional approval for World Liberty Financial's application for a trust charter. The firm, which is affiliated with the Trump family, would be permitted to issue USD-denominated stablecoins and provide digital-asset custody services.
Ownership data cited in the report shows the Trump family holds 38% of the company, while investors from the United Arab Emirates control 49% of the equity.
In parallel, 10 Democratic senators signed onto the "End Presidential Bank Corruption Act," legislation aimed at curbing corruption risks in the bank charter and application process.
