Ledger Wallets in Southeast Asia Found Tampered, $102M Stolen from 324 Wallets

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
A supply-chain attack on Ledger devices sold via a Southeast Asian reseller drained an estimated $102M from 324 wallets across six networks. The implant skims the 24-word seed during setup, bypassing the Secure Element and Genuine Check. Confidence in self-custody hardware, not blockchain security, is the casualty. Expect near-term pressure on hardware wallet vendors, reseller scrutiny, and elevated user migration to newly generated seeds.

Ledger wallets from Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis were tampered. Attackers copied 24 recovery words and sent them via LTE. Bitquery estimates $102 million stolen from 324 wallets across six networks. Ledger confirmed on October 10 and asked resellers in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to suspend sales. Affected owners should move funds to a new wallet with a fresh recovery phrase.
