Fidelity Plans Staking, Quarterly Cash Payouts for $898M Fidelity Ethereum Fund

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Fidelity's amended filing to enable up to 100% staking in its ~$898M Fidelity Ethereum Fund introduces a new, scalable yield channel for regulated ETH exposure and formalizes quarterly cash distributions funded by net staking proceeds. The move intensifies competition among spot-ETH fund sponsors and could accelerate institutional adoption of staking. Operationally, retaining ETH for liquidity and potential ETH sales to pay dividends may modestly affect fund flow dynamics.

Fidelity is moving to add staking and quarterly cash distributions to its Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH), which holds about $898 million in net assets, ME News reported on Aug. 12 (UTC+8). An amended registration statement shows the fund could stake up to 100% of its Ethereum holdings with no minimum threshold, while keeping some ETH available to meet redemptions and liquidity needs. Peers have already taken similar steps: Grayscale and 21Shares have incorporated staking into their Ethereum funds, and BlackRock has launched a separate staking product. Under Fidelity's proposed arrangement, the fund would keep 85% of staking rewards, while 15% would go to the sponsor, custodian and node operators Blockdaemon, Figment and Galaxy. Net staking income would first be used to cover fund operating expenses, with any remaining amount paid out as quarterly dividends. Fidelity also said it may sell a portion of its ETH to fund these distributions. Source: Foresight News
