Fed Delivers 25 bp Rate Hike, Signals "Higher for Longer" Path
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The Fed's 25 bp hike to 3.75%–4.00% and upgraded "higher for longer" rate projections tighten financial conditions and raise discount rates across risk assets. The unanimous vote and resilient growth/consumption language reduce near-term easing expectations, while elevated inflation keeps policy restrictive. In the short term, this backdrop typically pressures duration-sensitive assets and liquidity-dependent markets, including crypto, by increasing funding costs and strengthening risk-off positioning.

BlockBeats reports that on September 17 the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points, lifting the benchmark rate to 3.75%4.00%. The move marked the first increase since July 2023 and matched market expectations, following five straight meetings in which rates were left unchanged.
In its statement, the FOMC said U.S. economic activity is still expanding at a solid pace despite ongoing uncertainties. Consumer demand remains strong, while inflation is still elevated.
Updated projections showed officials now see the median federal funds rate at 4.1% at the end of 2026, up from 3.8% in the June forecast. The median projection for the end of 2027 was also raised to 4.1%, compared with 3.6% previously.
The decision was unanimous, contrasting with the prior meeting's 9-3 vote split.
