Fed holds steady as three officials call for quarter-point hike; most dissent since 2016
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The Fed held the policy rate at 3.5%–3.75% for a fifth straight meeting, but three dissenters favored a hike—the most opposition since 2016—highlighting a more contentious, potentially hawkish committee. The increased split raises uncertainty around the near-term rate path, likely lifting rate volatility and supporting the US dollar via higher perceived upside risk to policy tightening.

The Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged even as three policymakers voted for a rate increase, marking the sharpest split on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) in nearly a decade.
The FOMC voted 9-3 to hold the federal funds rate in a range of 3.5% to 3.75%, extending its pause to a fifth consecutive meeting. Hammack, Kashkari and Logan dissented, favoring a quarter-point hike.
The three dissents represent the largest number of votes against the majority since September 2016. Chair Kevin Warsh, presiding over his second meeting in the role, described the division bluntly: \u0022I asked for a good family fight, and I got one.\u0022
