EU's Cyber Resilience Act reporting duties now apply to hardware wallet makers

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
EU Cyber Resilience Act Article 14 reporting rules now apply to hardware wallet makers and other digital products sold in the bloc, mandating rapid disclosure of exploited vulnerabilities and severe security incidents (24/72-hour notifications; final report within 14 days). This raises compliance and operational burdens for wallet vendors and may accelerate security patch cycles. Near term, it tightens the regulatory perimeter around crypto self-custody infrastructure, influencing market confidence in wallet security.

New EU cyber-incident reporting obligations under Article 14 of the Cyber Resilience Act have taken effect, bringing hardware wallet manufacturers into scope. Makers must report vulnerabilities already being exploited and any serious incidents that undermine a product's security. Once they become aware, they are required to notify ENISA and the relevant national CSIRT within 24 hours, followed by a more detailed notification within 72 hours. After a remediation is in place, a final report must be filed within 14 days. The requirements apply to all products with digital elements sold in the EU.
