Deutsche Bank to Roll Out Crypto Custody for Institutional and Corporate Clients
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Deutsche Bank plans to launch regulated crypto custody for institutional and corporate clients in Germany, initially supporting BTC, ETH and select stablecoins (USDC, EURC, EURAU), subject to approvals. By offering bank-managed wallets, key management and security controls, the service lowers operational barriers for institutions and signals deeper integration of crypto into traditional finance. Near-term, this can support institutional participation and custody competition.

Deutsche Bank is preparing to launch a digital-asset custody service for institutional and corporate clients later this year, subject to regulatory approval. Germany will be the first market for the offering.
At launch, the service is expected to support Bitcoin and Ether, along with selected stablecoins including USDC, EURC and EURAU. Clients will be able to hold digital assets and transfer them to third parties via infrastructure operated by Deutsche Bank. The lender will manage customer wallets and private keys, removing the need for clients to build in-house custody systems.
The initial target audience includes corporates, asset managers, hedge funds, custodians, brokerage firms and sovereign institutions already operating within Deutsche Bank's Corporate Bank and Investment Bank ecosystem and compliance framework.
Deutsche Bank said the product scope could broaden over time depending on client demand, regulatory requirements, risk management and its internal product-approval process. Tokenized financial instruments are also on the bank's roadmap, indicating the platform may eventually extend beyond cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.
Security is positioned as a core pillar of the setup. The bank said it will employ hardware-based protection for private keys, multi-person approvals, separate warm and cold storage environments, and backup and recovery controls. External technology and infrastructure providers will handle certain technical components.
Gerald Podobnik, Co-Head of Commercial Banking at Deutsche Bank, said digital assets are intended to complement, not replace, the traditional financial system, and that regulated institutions can provide trust, security and protection measures as these services develop.
The move comes as major financial institutions accelerate work on digital-asset services amid evolving regulation in Europe and a more constructive backdrop for cryptocurrencies in the United States. Italian banking group UniCredit has also been reviewing potential changes to its digital-asset offerings, including early plans to expand custody and brokerage capabilities.
Deutsche Bank said it is selecting technology partners to support the infrastructure needed to hold and facilitate digital-asset transactions. For now, the focus remains on custody for institutional and corporate clients, with any future expansion in supported assets tied to demand, regulation, risk controls and internal approvals.
