A recently exploited firmware flaw in the Coldcard hardware wallet led to the theft of about 2,100 BTC, with losses estimated near $1.3 billion, according to Odaily Planet Daily. On-chain data indicates that in the days surrounding the incident, wallets tied to long-term holders moved roughly 233,000 BTC—about $15 billion—out of their addresses. Casa CEO Nick Neuman said part of the flow appears to be Coldcard users shifting funds into multisig setups, adding that Ledger and Trezor users made similar moves after the news broke. Over the same window, around 22,000 BTC was sent to exchanges. Coinkite urged anyone who generated mnemonic phrases using firmware versions 4.0.1 through 4.1.9 to assume their wallets may be compromised and to migrate immediately to new mnemonic phrases.
