Fed's Kevin Warsh Warns Inflation Fight Not Over in Jackson Hole Remarks

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
At Jackson Hole, Fed's Kevin Warsh downplayed recent inflation progress and reiterated inflation control as the top priority, reinforcing the risk of additional tightening. Markets reacted with higher U.S. Treasury yields and an initial sharp drop in gold as September hike odds rose (CME FedWatch ~45.7%). In the near term, firmer rate expectations and rising real yields are a headwind for duration-sensitive assets and precious metals.

Huoxing Finance reported that on Aug. 29, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said at the Jackson Hole Global Central Bank Symposium that this summer's inflation readings were better than expected but still fall short of showing a "meaningful improvement" in underlying inflation trends. He said the Fed must see clearer evidence that inflation is returning to its 2% target at a sufficiently rapid pace; otherwise, "there is more work to be done." Warsh reiterated that bringing inflation under control remains the central bank's top priority. He also noted signs the U.S. economy is strengthening, while stopping short of signaling what the Fed may do at its September policy meeting. Markets reacted quickly after the comments. U.S. Treasury yields moved higher, and gold initially fell sharply as investors priced in higher odds of a September rate increase. CME FedWatch data showed traders assigning a 45.7% probability to a September hike, up markedly from the previous day.
