Chile's Orionx suspends operations and withdrawals after forensic audit finds $7M+ shortfall
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Orionx's halt of operations and withdrawals following a forensic audit citing $7M+ in assets moved beyond company control underscores custodial and governance risks at centralized exchanges. Allegations against founders and the lack of CMF authorization under Chile's FinTech Law add regulatory and legal overhang, likely pressuring confidence in smaller LATAM venues and elevating counterparty-risk sensitivity across crypto.

Chilean cryptocurrency exchange Orionx said it has stopped operating and frozen customer withdrawals after a forensic audit found a funding gap tied to missing assets.
According to the company, more than $7 million in custodied funds were moved to wallets beyond Orionx's control, leaving the platform unable to meet withdrawal demands. Orionx alleges the transfers are connected to its two founding partners, Joaquín Díaz and Roberto Zibert, as well as other former employees, and said it has filed a complaint with Chile's National Prosecutor's Office.
The filing claims the transactions took place between 2018 and 2021. Chile's Financial Market Commission (CMF) said Orionx is not authorized to provide cryptocurrency-related financial services and that its activities do not comply with the FinTech Law.
Orionx said it cannot guarantee that users will recover their funds in full. (Bitcoin.com News)
