U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs eked out a $4.89 million net inflow on Tuesday, as a $50.20 million subscription into BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) more than offset redemptions across other products. The category returned to net inflows after Monday's $144.67 million withdrawal.
Redemptions were spread across five funds. Franklin Templeton's EZBC posted the largest outflow at $16.46 million. ARK 21Shares' ARKB saw $11.55 million exit, VanEck's HODL lost $10.30 million, Fidelity's FBTC recorded a $4.13 million outflow, and Hashdex's DEFI shed another $2.87 million. Total bitcoin ETF trading value reached $1.42 billion, while combined net assets ended the session at $77.46 billion.
Ether ETFs remained slightly negative, though selling pressure eased. Fidelity's FETH reported $2.33 million in outflows, while BlackRock's ETHA drew about $564,000. The group finished with a $1.76 million net outflow. Trading value totaled $334.45 million and net assets closed at $10.48 billion.
Among altcoin ETFs, only solana products saw net creations. Morgan Stanley's MSOL added $1.43 million, helping the category finish in the green. Solana ETF trading value was $36.07 million, with net assets ending at $899.08 million. XRP and HYPE ETFs reported no net creations or redemptions.
Hashdex's DEFI outflow comes shortly after the issuer said on August 3 it would close and liquidate the fund. DEFI held about $14.7 million in assets as of July 30. Trading and new subscriptions are scheduled to end on August 17, after which the fund is expected to be delisted from NYSE Arca. Remaining investors are expected to receive cash liquidation proceeds around August 28. Hashdex cited factors including fund size, liquidity, operating costs, investor demand, and broader product strategy.
The move highlights the pressure on smaller bitcoin ETFs as assets and trading activity remain concentrated in the largest products.
