Bitcoin BIP110 Soft Fork Fizzles as Support Falls Short; Luke Dashjr Stripped of BIP Editing Rights
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Bitcoin's BIP110 soft fork attempt stalled with signaling peaking at 2.53% versus a 55% threshold, leaving a subset of nodes isolated and halting the BIP110 chain at block 961,633. The subsequent removal of Luke Dashjr's BIP editorial privileges highlights governance and process frictions around proposal handling. Near-term, the episode can weigh on technical risk perception and developer coordination confidence.

Odaily Planet Daily reported that the Bitcoin BIP110 soft fork effort has stalled after attracting far less support than required, leaving thousands of nodes cut off. Two days after the disruption, the Bitcoin BIP editorial team revoked Luke Dashjr's editorial privileges, even though he was the proposal's main advocate.
Editor Mark Erhardt initiated the move to remove Dashjr, citing conflicts of interest, limited contributions, his role in driving a divisive fork and a collapse in coordination. Supporters also alleged that Dashjr misused his editor role to advance BIP110 by assigning it a BIP number and quickly merging its pull request ahead of mailing-list discussion. Since April 2024, his contributions have represented less than 1%.
At its peak, BIP110 signaling reached just 2.53%, well below the 55% threshold, causing the chain to stop at block height 961,633. Ocean was the only mining pool signaling support before the fork and has since returned to nonBIP110 operations.
