Japan's latest yen-buying move may have cost about $87 billion, estimates show

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Reports that Japan likely spent about $87B (¥11T) over July 30-31 to buy yen underscore aggressive FX intervention to resist JPY weakness. This raises near-term two-way risk in USD/JPY via potential follow-on operations, shifting expectations for volatility, hedging demand, and cross-asset positioning tied to yen funding and carry trades. It also signals heightened policy sensitivity to rapid exchange-rate moves.
