Ampleforth Flags Suspected Malicious Governance Proposal Seeking 2.5M USDC Transfer

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Reports flag Ampleforth's 54th governance proposal as potentially malicious, seeking to transfer ~2.5M USDC (nearly the full timelock balance) to the proposer. The proposal could clear the voting threshold via self-voting with ~0.57% of FORTH supply, implying relatively low economic friction for treasury capture. This elevates protocol governance and treasury-risk perceptions, pressuring the governance token and related liquidity.

ChainThink reported on Sept. 13 that Defimon Alerts has flagged Ampleforth's 54th governance proposal as potentially malicious, citing an attempt to move 2.5 million USDC from the protocol's treasury. The proposal, titled "SPOT Completed Work Grant," would transfer funds to the proposer's address, an amount that nearly matches the 2.538 million USDC currently held in the timelock contract. The proposer has acknowledged writing the proposal. According to the alert, the vote would clear the 75,000 FORTH threshold largely through self-voting with 87,238 FORTH (about 0.57% of supply). With FORTH priced around $0.22, the estimated cost of the attack is roughly $132,000.
