Vitalik Buterin proposes Ethereum fast confirmation rule with 12-second nonrevert guarantee

Vitalik Buterin outlined a new fast confirmation rule for Ethereum that provides users with a nonrevert guarantee on transactions after a single slot, or 12 seconds. The security of this rule depends on two key assumptions: that the majority of validators behave honestly and that network latency remains under roughly 3 seconds. Buterin added that, although this approach offers slightly weaker protection than economic finality, it is still considered highly reliable for many transaction scenarios and application needs.
