Coinbase's January 7, 2025 Review: S&P 500 Inclusion, Deribit Acquisition, and Strategic Expansion

Coinbase outlined major milestones in its Jan. 7, 2025 review, including joining the S&P 500 and completing 10 acquisitions, led by the purchase of derivatives exchange Deribit. The company expanded into futures, perpetuals, U.S. stocks, crypto lending, and DEX integration, achieved EU MiCA compliance, and saw the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission drop its case. Coinbase Custody now holds $300 billion in assets, its Layer 2 network Base reached Stage 1, and the firm expects “high-intensity delivery” in 2025 ahead of a new phase in 2026.
