Phantom Chat Planned for 2026 Triggers Address Poisoning Security Warnings

Phantom has revealed plans to introduce Phantom Chat, an in-wallet social messaging feature slated for 2026. On February 10, on-chain investigator ZachXBT cautioned that the new tool could widen the attack surface while the long-standing problem of address poisoning in the wallet interface remains unresolved. He cited a recent incident in which a user lost 3.5 WBTC after copying a spoofed address from their transaction history, and urged the team to prioritize stronger protections before launching the chat function.
