Bitcoin Options Expiry Hits Record $23.7B Notional at 16:00 Today, BTC and ETH Total $28.5B

Bitcoin is set to see its largest options expiry on record at 16:00 today, with around 300,000 BTC options contracts reaching maturity at a notional value of about $23.7 billion, BlockBeats reports. The combined notional size of BTC and ETH options expiring today totals $28.5 billion, roughly double the level seen in the same period last year. Several analysts had earlier suggested that market volatility could expand significantly following this expiry, with historical records indicating that past large-scale options settlement dates were often followed by accelerated, one-sided market moves.
