Harvard and Brown Endowments Disclose Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF Holdings
Harvard University and Brown University reported positions in Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in recent 13F filings, CoinDesk reports. The stakes comprise a minor share of their overall portfolios but signal digital assets are entering mainstream institutional allocations as expected returns from traditional assets decline. Kim Lew, CEO of Columbia Investment Management, said compressed expected returns and alpha in conventional asset classes are pushing institutions further out on the risk curve. Carlos Rangel of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation stated that if an 8% return cannot be achieved, the traditional foundation model will not be sustainable.
