Gloria Zhao resigns as Bitcoin Core maintainer and revokes cryptographic key

On February 6, 2026 (UTC), reports said Bitcoin Core maintainer Gloria Zhao resigned and revoked her cryptographic signing key. The reports added that her departure does not affect Bitcoin’s consensus rules, network security, or transaction processing, and noted she began contributing in 2019–2020 and was not part of the 2015 MIT DCI funding period.
