Google's March 31, 2026 quantum AI paper revives Bitcoin key-risk debate, recalls Satoshi's 2010 view
Google published a quantum-cryptography whitepaper on March 31, 2026, prompting renewed discussion over whether advances could one day expose Bitcoin private keys from public keys. A co-author, Justin Drake, suggested on X that such a scenario could arrive as soon as 2032, while an old Bitcointalk post shows Satoshi Nakamoto believed Bitcoin could migrate to stronger signatures if progress is gradual. On April 1, BTC traded at $68,726, up 2.28% on the day, with year-to-date losses still at 21.48% and nearly 45% off a late-2025 peak.
