Crypto Open Interest rises $2.4B in December as trading activity falls 40%

On December 29, 2025, CryptoQuant said crypto derivatives Open Interest jumped by $2.4 billion in December even as trading activity fell 40%. Bitcoin OI rose from $22 billion to $23 billion and Ethereum from $13 billion to $15 billion, with BTC near $88,000 and the Fear Index at 37.
