0xflorent Unlocks 1,003.62 ETH ($2M) Stuck in a 2016 Hongcoin ICO Contract
Security researcher 0xflorent recovered 1,003.62 ETH (around $2 million) that had been stuck in a failed 2016 Hongcoin (The HONG) ICO refund contract for nearly nine years. The fix relied on a whitehat use of an integer-overflow issue in an admin multisig function, which required 41 signed transactions to unblock 48 affected investors. As of June 1, 2026, 96.5 ETH has been claimed and roughly 882 ETH remained available for others to withdraw.
