XRPL Gains Momentum in Tokenized RWA as Ethereum Competition Heats Up

Competition among public blockchains for tokenized real-world assets (RWA) is accelerating, with growing market discussion around whether capital is beginning to rotate from Ethereum to the XRP Ledger (XRPL). CoinDesk cited analyst Ledger Man, who said some market participants believe rising interest in RWA is bringing fresh capital into the XRPL ecosystem, with funds potentially moving "quietly" from Ethereum to XRPL. At this stage, the view remains largely based on analyst estimates and has not been broadly confirmed by authoritative on-chain data platforms or official disclosures. For now, it is best treated as a market observation rather than a verified conclusion about fund migration. XRPL's RWA footprint has expanded sharply this year. Earlier reports indicated that the market capitalization of tokenized RWAs on XRPL rose more than 124% in the first quarter, reaching about $2.25 billion. Attention has also increased around RLUSD, Ripple's promoted stablecoin, which continues to scale as part of XRPL's broader tokenization push. RLUSD has previously extended to multiple networks through Wormhole integration, offering developers and institutions additional liquidity avenues and supporting XRPL's effort to attract institutional use cases. Even with XRPL's rapid growth, Ethereum remains the dominant network for tokenized assets. Financial institutions have historically favored Ethereum and compatible networks due to more mature infrastructure, a larger developer base, and deeper liquidity. Many major institutional tokenization initiatives are still primarily deployed within the Ethereum ecosystem. The current dynamic appears less about one chain displacing another and more about multiple networks competing for different segments of the tokenization market. RWA tokenization remains one of the fastest-growing areas in crypto, as banks, asset managers, and fintech firms continue to test on-chain versions of traditional products. Ripple Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz recently said tokenized securities, money market funds, loans, and repurchase agreements could become key components of the XRPL ecosystem over time. As more institutions enter the space, competition around RWA is expected to intensify. What remains unclear is whether large-scale capital has actually shifted from Ethereum to XRPL, given the lack of cross-verified data. What is clear is that RWA is placing both XRPL and Ethereum at the center of the next phase of on-chain financial competition.
