U.S. Senate Confirms Kevin Warsh to Federal Reserve Board

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Kevin Warsh to the Federal Reserve Board in a 51–45 vote. Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman was the only Democrat to back the nomination. Warsh, 56, will face a separate Senate vote for Federal Reserve chair. Chair Jerome Powell’s eight-year term ends this Friday. Powell is expected to remain on the Board while a federal investigation reviews the Fed’s headquarters renovation. Warsh previously held investments in cryptocurrency and blockchain companies and has pledged to substantially divest those holdings. His background positions him as a strong contender for a top Fed role as policymakers weigh rules for stablecoins, bank custody of crypto assets, and digital payment systems.
