U.S. March CPI Jumps 0.9% as Gasoline Surge Linked to Iran Tensions Fuels Inflation

ME News reported that on April 10 (UTC+8), U.S. inflation data showed a sharp pickup in March as gasoline prices surged amid war-related tensions involving Iran. The seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index rose 0.9% from February, the biggest monthly increase since 2022. On a year-over-year basis, CPI climbed 3.3%, accelerating to the fastest pace since 2024. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said record-high gasoline prices were responsible for nearly three-quarters of the month’s CPI advance.
