U.S. Judge Clears Transfer of $71M in ETH Tied to North Korea-Linked Hack to Aave
A U.S. federal judge has authorized the transfer of $71 million worth of ETH connected to a North Korea-linked hacking incident to Aave LLC, allowing crypto assets previously frozen on Arbitrum to be moved.
On May 9 (UTC+8), U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett of the Southern District of New York approved the request and ordered that any legal restrictions attached to the assets be carried over as part of the transfer.
Plaintiffs had sought to block the move, arguing the funds could be used to satisfy judgments related to North Korea. Aave countered that the frozen assets belong to users of the Aave protocol, not the attackers or any North Korea-linked entities. (Source: MLion)
