U.S. March CPI Jumps 0.9% as Gasoline Prices Surge on Iran War Tensions

Odaily Planet Daily reports: The U.S. Consumer Price Index rose a seasonally adjusted 0.9% in March from February, the biggest monthly increase since 2022, as gasoline prices spiked amid war-related tensions with Iran. Figures released Friday showed headline CPI up 3.3% year over year, accelerating to the fastest pace since 2024. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said record-high gasoline prices accounted for nearly three-quarters of the month's increase. Core CPI, which excludes food and energy, slowed to a 0.2% monthly gain.
