Cross-Chain Bridge TAC Hit by External Exploit; Losses Estimated at $2.8M
BlockBeats reports that on May 14, the TAC team disclosed an external exploit affecting the protocol's TON sidechain within its cross-chain layer, leading to losses of about $2.8 million involving USDT, BLUM, and tsTON. TAC said the core TAC network, TON, and all ERC-20 assets bridged from Ethereum were not impacted.
The bridge remains suspended as the team conducts forensic analysis and implements fixes. TAC said it will publish a full report with additional details within 48 hours.
TAC added it is working with law enforcement, SEAL 911, and security partners to trace the stolen funds and attempt to freeze them. The team said its top priority is user compensation and a full restoration of bridge liquidity, funded through a lawful, structured sale of the foundation's TAC token reserves. Further updates will be released via official channels.
