SEC Chair Paul Atkins: BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and DOGE Not Securities

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and DOGE are among digital assets not treated as securities, ending what he described as a decade of uncertainty over crypto classification. The SEC defined four categories of crypto assets outside securities rules: major cryptocurrencies, digital collectibles including NFTs and meme coins, digital tools such as ENS domains and utility credentials, and payments with compliant stablecoins under the GENIUS Act. Only tokenized traditional securities remain subject to securities law, Atkins added, joking the SEC is no longer the "Securities and Everything Under the Sun Commission."
