SEC Chair Atkins Pushes Ahead With "Project Crypto", Targets Clearer Token Rules and Onchain Trading Path

Forbes reports that U.S. SEC Chair Atkins said the agency is moving forward with "Project Crypto" and working alongside the CFTC to develop clearer standards for determining when a crypto asset should be treated as a security. Atkins also floated an "innovation exemption" designed to let tokenized securities trade directly onchain, marking a shift away from what he described as a prior era of "enforcementoverregulation." Bitcoin has climbed back from $60,000 to about $77,500, with traders watching for a potential move above $80,000. MicroStrategy has continued adding to its bitcoin position. Spot bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $1.9 billion over the past seven days, offering additional support to the market.
