Rakuten Wallet to Add XRP Trading and Payments From April 15, 2026

Rakuten Wallet, the crypto trading and custody arm of Japan's Rakuten Group, will add XRP as both a trading asset and a payment option starting April 15, 2026. Under the rollout, users will be able to buy XRP with Rakuten Points and top up Rakuten Cash with XRP, enabling spending at more than 5 million merchants across Japan. Rakuten Pay, which counts 44 million users, is expected to bring XRP exposure to a broad base of everyday shoppers who are not yet active in crypto. Rakuten said customers can also exchange Rakuten Points directly for XRP. More than 3 trillion points have been issued, valued at about $23 billion. With over 100 million Rakuten members and annual ecommerce transaction volume of ¥5.6 trillion, the company is positioning XRP as a digital asset embedded across the Rakuten ecosystem for daily payments.
