NYSE develops tokenized stock platform with 24/7 trading and multi-chain settlement
NYSE said on Jan. 20 it is developing a tokenized trading and settlement platform for U.S. stocks featuring multi-chain settlement and custody and round-the-clock trading, BlockBeats reports. Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo, Blockworks Research analyst Shaun Da Devens, Binance founder CZ and The Block founder Mike Dudas expressed support, citing native on-chain stock trading without wrappers or derivatives and potential for weekend price discovery. Blockworks data head Dan Smith said the notice points to off-chain execution paired with on-chain settlement similar to Polymarket's order book model, with multi-chain custody likely. Plume Network general counsel Salman Banaei contrasted NYSE's approach with DTCC by emphasizing native issuance of digital securities tokens, while critics moritz and REX warned it could marginalize decentralized exchanges offering equity trading and native crypto.
