US Law Firm Seeks Court Order to Halt Arbitrum DAO Ether Transfers Linked to Alleged North Korea-Backed Kelp Exploit

A New York district court has approved a restraining notice and three writs of execution, requested by Gerstein Harrow LLP, to prevent Arbitrum DAO from transferring Ether (ETH) allegedly stolen in the Kelp exploit. The law firm's clients hold $877 million in unpaid judgments against North Korea, stemming from cases decided in 2010, 2015, and 2016. Gerstein Harrow LLP asserts that the stolen cryptocurrency should be treated as North Korean property, alleging the hacker group responsible for the exploit is state-affiliated. This legal action could potentially complicate and further delay efforts by Kelp exploit victims to recover their funds.
