Morgan Stanley's Bitcoin ETF MSBT to Debut on NYSE Arca April 8
Morgan Stanley's spot Bitcoin ETF, MSBT, is set to begin trading on NYSE Arca on Wednesday, April 8, following a listing notice published by the exchange on Tuesday. The launch marks the first Bitcoin ETF from a major U.S. commercial bank.
MSBT is also the first new spot Bitcoin ETF to come to market in nearly two years since crypto asset manager Grayscale launched its Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF in July 2024.
The fund enters a crowded spot ETF arena led by BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC). Combined, the two products have taken in $74.3 billion of net inflows since January 2024, according to Farside Investors.
Morgan Stanley set MSBT's management fee at 0.14%, under the category average. The pricing could encourage a shift from bitcoin futures exposure to spot ETFs and support liquidity. Coinbase and Bank of New York Mellon will serve as custodians.
Separately, Morgan Stanley has expanded its crypto push this year. The bank has applied for a national trust banking charter, filed listing applications for staked Ether (ETH) and Solana (SOL) ETFs, and added Amy Oldenburg to its digital assets team.
