Grinex Says It Will Reimburse Clients After $14 Million Hack
Russian cryptocurrency exchange Grinex said on May 2 (UTC+8) that it will compensate customers for assets affected by an unidentified cyberattack that occurred about two weeks ago, according to ME News.
Grinex said impacted users will first be able to withdraw the ruble-pegged stablecoin A7A5. The stolen funds are still sitting in the attacker's wallet and cannot yet be recovered. The exchange added that international AML screening services have labeled the funds as "stolen assets," and Russian police have opened an investigation.
Reports said that in mid-April, hackers took about $14 million in USDT from the platform and routed the funds through SUN io before converting them into TRX. (Source: MLion)
