Gemini Wins Key U.S. Regulatory Approval With CFTC DCO License

Gemini has secured a Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), authorizing it to operate as a regulated clearinghouse for digital asset derivatives. Co-founder Cameron Winklevoss (@Cameron) announced the approval on X, calling out the significance of the new license. The DCO designation allows Gemini to clear regulated derivatives trades, including prediction markets. With the approval, Gemini can provide end-to-end clearing for its Gemini Predictions market, bringing the full trade lifecycle in-house from execution through settlement. The DCO license also builds on Gemini's existing Designated Contract Market (DCM) status, positioning the platform to offer an integrated venue for futures, options, and prediction markets.
