Crypto Market Falls Second Day as Layer2 Sector Drops 6.09%

The crypto market declined for a second consecutive day, with the Layer2 sector falling 6.09% over 24 hours, SoSoValue data show. Within Layer2, Mantle (MNT) lost 7.36%, Optimism (OP) dropped 7.73%, and zkSync (ZK) slid 8.19%, while Bitcoin (BTC) fell 4.05% and briefly traded below $71,000, and Ethereum (ETH) declined 5.54% to around $2,200. The CeFi sector was down 2.58% in 24 hours with Aster (ASTER) off 7.22%, the Layer1 sector dropped 3.22% but Kaspa (KAS) gained 9.07%, and the PayFi sector decreased 3.6% as Dash (DASH) retreated 7.72%. The DeFi sector declined 3.94% though River (RIVER) jumped 15.32% intraday, while the Meme sector slipped 4.79% but Siren (SIREN) rallied 13.64%.
