Coinbase trading halted for nearly seven hours after AWS Northern Virginia data center overheats

Trading on @coinbase was unavailable for nearly seven hours on Friday after an Amazon Web Services data center in Northern Virginia overheated, knocking the AWS USEAST1 zone offline. CME Group and FanDuel also reported disruptions. The incident marks the second AWS-driven Coinbase outage since October 2025 and the third major USEAST1 disruption in the past five years. Statusfield recorded eight separate Coinbase performance issues over the last month.
