CFTC to Release Framework for Professional Perpetuals Within a Month, Joint Crypto Rules With SEC Advance
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig said at a Washington event that the agency is developing a framework to permit genuine professional perpetual contracts in the U.S. within the next month, with an announcement expected soon, Odaily Planet Daily reports. He noted that earlier regulatory approaches had driven substantial corporate migration and liquidity overseas. The CFTC and SEC are jointly advancing digital asset policies under Project Crypto, including clearer guidance for DeFi developers and standards for prediction markets. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said that while regulators are pursuing innovation exemptions to support industry experimentation, statutory certainty from Congress remains necessary and Senate negotiations on digital asset market transparency are ongoing.
